Everyone wants their webpage to rank well with Google, and
creating SEO friendly content is essential to making it up the ranks. The
higher your page climbs in the search engine rankings, the more traffic you’ll
get, which means greater potential for business growth. The key to this is
creating SEO friendly content. I’m going to give you five easy and quick ways
to interject SEO into your website.
1. Optimize Your Article Lengths
Did you know that Google gives priority to longer
articles over shorter ones? Even so, if your pages are too
long, your readers will lose interest. This is why I recommend my Clients
have their content be at a minimum of 300 words long, with a maximum cap of
around 800 words. You should sprinkle your keywords throughout your text at a
keyword density of 1% or 2%. This means that you have 5 to 10 keywords in a 500
word article. Don’t keyword stuff because Google will penalize you for this
tactic!
2. Break Your Content Up
with Headings and Subheadings
A wall of text can be intimidating, and it can cause your
readers to click away. One simple way to create SEO friendly content is to
break up your content into easily digestible sections. Use creative and
eye-catching headers to grab your readers’ attention and draw them in.
Subheaders are an excellent place to sneak in a keyword or two! They make your
content easy to skim, which is a major plus because people love sharing things
that are easy to skim and reader-friendly.
3. Make Your Content Shareable
Social media is a popular way to expand your reach. You can
engage with your audience and share your brand or products. You want to take
advantage of the potential reach social media offers. You can do this by making
your content easy to share. You can use websites like ShareThis or AddThis for free to add share
buttons to all of your content. This way, your Clients will be able to share
anything they find interesting on your website, which is a free marking
opportunity for you to take advantage of!
4. Optimize All of Your Images
Having fun and eye-catching images on your site can enhance
your content and add a richness and quality that will motivate more people to
share your posts. Also, people are more likely to buy items and products from
companies that have relevant and attractive photos.
It’s also an excellent way to add in a few keywords. Add a
few keywords to all of your image files and provide the ALT tags. Additionally,
don’t forget to optimize the image size. Having large pictures can slow down
your load times and hurt your SEO strategy. I like to make my images as small
as I possibly can without compromising the image’s quality.
5. Link to Older Content
If you’re like me, you like to create relevant links
throughout your content to help build your authority and improve your ranking
with Google. If you have older content and you’re writing a refresher article
on it, backlink to it. Additionally, your readers may want to click through
your links and read some of your older posts too! Routinely check these links
to make sure they’re all in good working order because Google doesn’t like
broken links. If it’s possible, link these pages to your relevant landing
pages.
